Film Schools

Everyone loves going to see a great movie. From the time I was a child, seeing a movie was always a treat. For some people, what goes on behind the scenes is more fascinating than the finished product. Film schools not only give a person the opportunity to learn about filming a movie, but everything else that goes into making a picture.

There is much more to making a movie than just running the camera. Youll also need to know about screenwriting, set design, budgeting, lighting, casting, sound, post production, makeup and special effects. You know all those things that are not our favorite parts of the Academy Awards programs. Will we really remember who won best screen writer? We probably wont, but all these things are integral to the development of a successful film.

You dont have to go to Hollywood or New York City to obtain a film degree. There are programs for film making all over the country. At Full Sail University in Florida you can earn a bachelors degree in about 20 months. Florida State University also has a film program. Of course California does boast four of the best film schools in the country. All that education and great weather too is good reason to relocate. New York University is one of the most discriminating film schools in the world and has one of the largest filmmaking facilities on the East Coast. Famous alums include Spike Lee, M. Night Shyamalan, and Roman Cappola.

The University of Texas film Institute is fairly new program being founded in 2003, but they are committed to providing a hands on education and using the latest film technologies. Ohio University offers ambitious students the ability to explore their interests through individualized programs of study. Students must rank in the top ten percent of their high schools to even be considered for admission.

Careers open to film school graduates may include director, cinematographer, set designer, actor, or screen writer. While attending film school, you may explore all aspects of film, and you may find your passion in any number of areas. The amazing technology available today assures that filmmaking will be a fascinating career for years to come. If thats where your interest lies; check out the many offerings of the countrys film schools to find the perfect match for you. Who knows; you may be getting an Oscar of your own one of these days.
